Legendary Maui, for whom our island is named, is the Hawaiian demigod said to have lifted the heavens from the earth so that man could walk tall. He slowed the sun’s path across the sky, and he discovered the secret of fire.

As the sun sets upon one of the most magnificent beaches in the world, Maui Nui comes to life through an extraordinary lūʻau experience. Across the Pailolo channel, the beautiful body of water before you, the islands of Molokaʻi, Lanaʻi, and Kahoʻolawe beckon to our beloved Maui. In ancient times, these islands were the great landmass called Maui Nui, separated over time by thousands of years of erosion.

E aulama kakou, we light the torches to prepare the way for the spectacular cliff dive off Puʻu Kekaʻa that ignites the celebration at Maui Nui.
